2003

Happiness is a freshly-mowed yard.

Marilyn and I went for a little drive near Hope. This is looking up the valley where Coeur D'Alene campground is. I have very fond memories of going here with my family as a child.

The obligatory sunset shot.

I thought this little mushroom was cute. This was up near Hope, Alaska.

Some more cute mushrooms. Yeah, fungus fascinates me.

Walking up Powerline Pass (Near Flattop Mountain), I ran into this hungry moose.

From the Flattop viewing area (not the top), a view of my hometown, Anchorage. You can see downtown off to the right of the picture. You can't see where my house is, but it's to the left of the picture.

Jetskier, enjoying the warm sun and the icy waters.

My favorite time of year for sunsets. Just when the sun is setting right behind Sleeping Lady. (Early August)

Yes, you've seen this tree before on this site. Can you tell where my favorite place for sunset-watching is?

Another shot of the sun, saying goodnight to Sleeping Lady.

It always amazes me that more people aren't out watching this spectacle.

:-)

This cracked me up.

Some sort of butterfly, on some sort of rocks, on some mountain in Arctic Valley, August, 2003

Sunset from Potter Marsh. I thought the clouds were neat that evening.

Same sunset. Not 100% happy with how these came out, but at least they show what the clouds were like that night.

A (Yellow) lily on the (grey) Coastal Trail.

A mountain near Eagle River. (Like you couldn't tell it's a mountain-I'm not THAT bad of a photographer!)

A spider web in my front yard, shining in the sun. My brother suggested this shot.

Feeling twisted.

Hiking at Byron Glacier. You've seen pictures from here on my site before, but so what? It's my site :-) July, 2003

Water cascading (isn't that a nice word?) off the ice at Byron Glacier.

An ice worm. Yes, there really are little worms that live on the cold-ass ice. Stupid worms. (Byron)

Water dripping in a small cavern. As usual, I was far too smart (chicken) to actually go IN said cavern. (Byron)

A field of fireweed, looking up to Byron Glacier.

Another field of Fireweed (why am I constantly taking pictures of WEEDS, you ask? Please see the "It's MY site" answer above).

Actually went on a 5K run/walk in Hope in mid-July. Yeah, I walked (er...because I was taking pictures-not because I'm a fat-ass!)

Yes, people windsurf in Alaska. In the near-freezing, silty, crowded with whales, windy, rocky bay. These people are psychos.

Forgive the quality of these pictures. It was VERY windy and they're taken at extreme magnification (yeah, I'll use any excuse possible for my crap-tastic photography).

This guy was about SIXTY years old. I'm serious!

Not the old guy, but still impressing me..

"AIYEEEEE!!!!"

A Sandhill (I think) Crane, about 15 feet off the Coastal Trail, Near Westchester Lagoon. June 22, 2003

The crane and his (her?) partner.

A mountain near Flattop, Anchorage, June 2003

The previously mentioned Flattop.

Sunset and some interesting clouds (at least I think so) over Turnagin Arm. June 2003.

A wasp enjoying a flower in my backyard. (I was enjoying the flowers too, but in a different way).

My brother Adrian, looking southward along Turnagain arm, June 2003

A very neat trail south of Potter Marsh, near my house in Anchorage, June 2003

It's been 15 years since I've been to Thunderbird Falls (about 20 miles north of Anchorage). It seems smaller (go figure) but still a damn nice walk.

Some ducks in Westchster Lagoon, Anchorage, AK--May 2003

A cute little bug along the Coastal Trail--May 2003

Note to Tourists: Grey water and trashed buses on the beach are not all that uncommon here.

A seagull posing for me at Potter Marsh, about a mile from my house in Anchorage--May 2003

Walking the tracks...Potter Marsh-- May 2003

Getting a little perspective on life. Damn, I crack myself up. May 2003

Seward, Alaska. May 3, 2003

Some seagulls watching the water in Seward

Exit Glacier-watch for that falling ice!

The face of Exit Glacier, Near Seward, Alaska.

Looking out over Turnagain Arm, April 28th, 2002. Would you believe I was the ONLY one there that night watching the sunset?

Turnagain Arm (playing around with the new cam)
